The Sevre Vase
by Sir James Jebusa Shannon
Title
The Sevre Vase
Artist
Sir James Jebusa Shannon
Medium
Painting - Print On Paper
Description
Reproduction of an entrancing, circa 1910 portrait by Sir James Jebusa Shannon of a slender young woman choosing a grape, and to whom the Sevre vase of the title most definitely plays second fiddle. The picture is given added drama by the dramatic use of light and shade to accentuate the young woman's swan-like neck and shoulders. Shannon was one of the most popular portrait artists of his day, and this is unquestionably one of his finest works.
